New Wilderness Gospel, Vol. 1

New Wilderness Gospel is an experimental narrative that draws upon the double resonance of "wilderness" - a term both etymologically connected to waste and destitution and linked to prelapsarian purity in the vocabulary of late American mythology - to explore the concepts of time, loss, and redemption. By employing a nonlinear approach to time, the narrative explores a life from the perspectives of two simultaneously occurring selves that bend closer and closer toward a point of convergence; it also tells the tale of a metaphysical conflict between two mysterious figures, Jacob, Body Seer and the Birdcatchter, set against the backdrop of America's own "dark night of the soul."
